28th Annual Show at Strule Valley Riding Club

Competitors turn out in style for Dressage Show at Ecclesville

Strule Valley Riding Club celebrated 28 years by holding a Dressage Show at the weekend at Ecclesville Centre Indoor, Fintona.

The club would like to thank all those who came along to compete and turned out so beautifully. Thank you to Claire Sedgeman for judging; Gillian Hynes for scribing; Victoria Graham, entries; Robyn Livingstone and Alison Donnell, scorers. Thanks also to Schon Coffee for refreshments and Robert McLaren for coming along to present The RJ Monteith Perpetual Cup.

Hello and welcome to Horse&Field. Our aim is to support local, grass roots equestrian enthusiasts and competitors and keep you all informed of what’s happening in the horsey world, as well as covering all things agricultural. If you haven’t already subscribed you can do so below:

Congratulations to Eimear Watson and ‘Gaurlin Lady’ on winning The RJ Monteith Perpetual Cup for being the highest placed Strule Valley Riding Club member.

Members finished their dressage training for now, with Mary Devine, Devine Equine and look forward to the return of Penny Sangster for polework and gridwork training. Kyle Hayes will visit also in April for polework and gridwork training.

The Annual Charity Easter Pleasure Ride is planned for Easter Monday, April 21 at 11am and the charity is the local, Care for Cancer. This is open to Riding Club, Pony Club and BHS members and is £10 per pony/horse.

In May, members look forward to visiting Mandi King’s yard for show jumping training, getting them ready for the Annual Summer Show jumping League, which takes place on Wednesday nights in July and is open to everyone, members and non-members, ponies and horses.

Dressage Show

Class 1 – BD Intro A 2008:

1) Hollybrook Farm Charles, Zara Loftus 65.43%; 2) Speedy, Rushelle Kerr 63.26%; 3) Pencrug Hyfryd, Charlotte Cosgrove 62.83%.

Under 18s:

1) Peaches, Emily Crawford 67.61%; 2) Peaches, Charlotte Crawford 66.74%; 3) Billy Black Jack, Grace Campbell 60.65%.

Class 2 – BD Intro C 2016:

1) Oscar, Annie Kelly 62.83%; 2) Pencrug Hyfryd, Charlotte Cosgrove 62.39%.

1) Gaurlin Lady, Eimear Watson 69.66%; 2) Super Trooper, Magdalena Pliczko 66.21%; 3) Castlerea Princess, Louise Johnston 65.86%; 4) Zorro, Violet Kennedy 64.83%; 5) Ivy, Pamela Caldwell 61.90%.

Class 4 – BD Prelim 13 2006 revised 2016:

1) Gaurlin Lady, Eimear Watson 70.38%; 2) Sir Ward, Maeve Lunny 66.35%; 3) Moon Over Claddagh, Fiona Gerring 65.77%; 4) Castlerea Princess, Louise Johnston 64.23%; 5) Oscar, Annie Kelly 61.54%.

Class 5 – BD Novice 34 2009:

1) Sir Ward, Maeve Lunny 66.46%; 2) Fancy Ferro, Jenna Crawford 66.04%.
