Are you having fun with your horse or pony?
There's lots on to enjoy! Latest local equestrian results update
Hi folks,
It’s hard to believe another weekend is almost here - the weeks are flying by. They say time flies when you’re having fun, so I do hope you are all having fun with your horses and ponies!
There was lots on last weekend, so this Horse&Field newsletter brings you an update, with results and photos from local competitions, as well as details of forthcoming activities and the calendar of events.

The two major events taking place last weekend were the first leg of the Ulster Region Autumn Pony Tour, which was held over Saturday and Sunday at Connell Hill, Randalstown and the Northern Ireland Riding Clubs’ show jumping championships, which were held on Sunday at Knockagh View, Greenisland. Alongside those, the Mid Week League at Knockagh View reached its conclusion on Wednesday night.
Looking ahead, this weekend will see Connell Hill holding a Hallowe’en Training Show on Saturday, October 28 from 10am; while next weekend will see the Festival of Racing being held at Down Royal Racecourse - hear from Henry de Bromhead about ‘Envoi Allen’…
Another date for your diary is the Saintfield Christmas Charity Ride, the 17th running of which is due to be held on Saturday, December 2.
The Horse&Field calendar lists local equine activities and is updated on a daily basis. We are trying to make the calendar as comprehensive as possible, so if you know of any events that aren’t yet listed, please let us know!
Alongside all the weekend competitions, which range from showing to dressage to show jumping, don’t forget that the BHS is running Horse Health days, both for owners and for coaches, on Monday and Tuesday. These days are open to both members and non-members, but numbers are limited!
To new subscribers, welcome! You will receive this newsletter twice each week, as well as occasional emails in between - we want to keep you informed, but do not want to overload your inbox!
Please remember that Horse&Field will be updated on a regular basis and you can visit it at any time to find out what is happening. If you wish, you can download the Substack app; you can search online for: horseandfield.substack.com or, if you are subscribed, just click on the email.
