Down Royal Festival of Racing sees first Grade 1 race of National Hunt season
The first Grade 1 race of the National Hunt season takes place at the upcoming Down Royal Festival of Racing on Friday, November 3 and Saturday, November 4.

The feature race is the Grade 1 Ladbrokes Champion Chase on the Saturday. It has been won by many of racing’s top chasers, including ‘Don Cossack’, who was successful in the race in November 2015 before going on to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup the following March. ‘Don Cossack’ is now enjoying his well-deserved retirement at his owner Michael O’Leary’s Gigginstown Stud in Co. Westmeath and Dave Keena caught up with retired jockey Bryan Cooper at Gigginstown to discuss the memorable days he enjoyed in the saddle on this great chaser…
