Balmoral Show welcomed the cream of equestrian competitors
The 156th Balmoral Show took place from May 14th to 17th, 2025 at the Eikon Exhibition Centre, Lisburn
The sun blazed down for most of the four days of this year’s Balmoral Show. Spectators arrived in their droves, in short sleeves and sunglasses to see all the show had to offer - equestrian showing and show jumping classes, agricultural showing classes, trade stands of every description and, thankfully, lots of ice cream vans - which, incidentally, were queued out much of the time!
As ever, the equestrian classes attracted the cream of horses and ponies from all over the island, some of whom had attended qualifiers to secure their opportunity to compete at Balmoral Park.

Hello and welcome to Horse&Field. Our aim is to support local, grass roots equestrian enthusiasts and competitors and keep you all informed of what’s happening in the horsey world, as well as covering all things agricultural. If you haven’t already subscribed you can do so below:
The winner of class one, the heavyweight hunter class for four-year-olds, Grace Maxwell Murphy and William McMahon’s Irish Draught ‘Tulcon Hero’ went on to claim the Supreme Hunter Championship - an amazing achievement in his first year under saddle!
Another combination that warrants comment is Diarmuid Ryan and ‘Two Mile Nigel’, owned by Dermott Molloy, who won their Four and five-year-old Performance Irish Draught class on Thursday and went on the win the Five- and six-year-old Working Hunter class on Friday. The pair also claimed both championships.
Closer to home, Jamie Smyth had a good show, winning the Lightweight cob class with Hilary Gibson’s ‘Highview Forthriver’ and taking the championship, as well as winning the Small Riding Horse class on Debbie Harrod’s ‘Lulu de Beau’ and the Large Riding Horse class with Anne Gomes’ ‘Memory Lane’ and claiming the championship with the former!
The various classes and notable successes are too numerous to mention them all individually, but the results are listed below with a multitude of pictures of winning combinations. There are many familiar names and faces!
Sincere thanks are extended to Prime Photography for providing the images from this year’s show. You can find these and many more at their website.

From speaking to many people, there has been some difficulty in finding the results they were looking for, so the equestrian results from the show are all listed below (according to what was listed at the time of compiling) - hopefully you will find the names you are looking for!
Please note the show jumping coverage from Balmoral has been posted separately and a link can be found at the end of the showing results.
