Beth is a lovely young lady, who suffers with the neurological condition Freidrichs Ataxia. As a result, mobility and every day tasks of daily living are difficult and tiring.
A charity show has been run for several years to raise funds for Beth. Over the years, money from this show has gone towards aids to improve her quality of life and lots of physiotherapy to maintain mobility and function. This year, Beth’s family are hoping to raise enough money to buy some specialised bathroom equipment.
The show takes place this Saturday, June 22 at Danescroft Equestrian Centre, Lisburn, courtesy of Leah Knight and Michael Dobbs.
There will be two arenas, both starting at 9.30am. Arena 1 will be outside in the sand arena and finishing on the round gallop. There will be derby classes at 70cm, 85cm, 1 metre and 1.10m. All clear rounds will jump off over a shortened course against the clock for some fabulous prizes, provided by Rockvale Equestrian, Sprucefield Cars, Tullyraine Equine Clinic and the Belmont Hotel.
Leah and Michael from Danescroft have pledged a £5 voucher towards arena/ gallop hire for EVERY entry, a rug for the leading rider of the show and (should we need it!) a FREE arena/ gallop hire for the first faller in each class!
Arena 2 will either be on the grass arena or indoors, depending on the weather. The classes will run from cross-poles up to 70cm and will be designed with the more novice combinations in mind. All double clears divide and can pick a prize, which have been sponsored by Peanut and Tobi therapy ponies, Rowen Barbary Feeds and Red Mills Feeds.
All the rosettes for the day have been sponsored by McKinty Construction. There will be a prize draw with some fantastic prizes from Lylehill Farm (organic beef), an overnight stay at Quarterlands Glamping, a show jumping lesson with Heather Coyle, a lesson at Riverhill Stud with either Clare or Jonny Steele, a side of beef donated by Kate Shields and a Horse First Hamper from Paddy Hughes!
Entries are £20 for Arena 1 and £10 for Arena 2. Text or WhatsApp Anita on 07872 026130.
An added attraction of the day is that Beth’s family and friends provide the most wonderful home bakes and hot drinks…!
