Busy day at Causeway and Glens Winter Working Hunter Show
Good entries, a well designed course, knowledgeable judging and great sponsorship
Causeway and Glens Riding Club hosted NIF Qualifiers at their Winter Working Hunter Show on Sunday, November 26 at Causeway Coast Arena in Coleraine. It was a busy day for the organisers, with good entries in all classes. William Brown designed the course, which rode well and, with the help of the arena party, the show ran to time.

Hello and welcome to Horse&Field. Our aim is to support local, grass roots equestrian enthusiasts and competitors and keep you all informed of what’s happening in the horsey world, as well as covering all things agricultural. If you haven’t already subscribed you can do so below:
Cherie McHugh kindly judged the combinations in both pony and horse sections, with the help of scribe Chloe Connon. The pony classes were well supported, with some riders making their Working Hunter debut.
Callie McKeown started the show with the first win of the day on her pony ‘Lisconnan Lady’. Erika Dixon was on a roll, taking the win in both 60cm and 70cm performance classes with ‘Woodlands Wonder’. Annie Connell with ‘Battlebridge Alfie’ took a well deserved win in the 90cm pony class. The Carnabreeze Connemara Ponies-sponsored championship went to Jodie McKay with the stunning ‘Moelview Orlando’ and reserve champion went to Justine O’Hara with her Connemara ‘Village Sparrow’.

Elena Morton started off the horse section taking the win in the 60cm class on ‘Crannagh Silver Hero’. ‘Liadan Girl’ took the win in a hotly contested cob class, ridden by Lisa Mitchell-Talbot. A delighted Julia Wilson and ‘Kallie’ won the 80cm class and qualified them both for the final at NIF.
Josie Doherty and ‘GK’ took top spot in the 90cm class and a qualifying place for NIF. It was Julia Wilson and ‘Kallie’ who then galloped to victory in the Carnabreeze Connemara Ponies-sponsored championship, with Lindsay Gault and ‘Winston’ in reserve.
