Busy spring at Strule Valley
Riding Club looks forward to a full schedule over the coming months
Strule Valley Riding Club finished their winter schedule recently, with three weeks of flatwork/ polework training with Mandi King at the RDA in Omagh. They now have a busy spring schedule ahead.

Hello and welcome to Horse&Field. Our aim is to support local, grass roots equestrian enthusiasts and competitors and keep you all informed of what’s happening in the horsey world, as well as covering all things agricultural. If you haven’t already subscribed you can do so below:
March sees the club welcome Mary Devine from Devine Equine, for the first time, for three weeks of dressage training, which will get members ready for the Annual Dressage Show, which is planned for Sunday, March 24, to celebrate 27 years. Everyone is very welcome, members and non-members, and there are classes for everyone.
Class 1 - BD Intro A 2008; Class 2 - BD Intro C 2016; Class 3 - BD Prelim 1 2006; Class 4 - BD Prelim 2 2016 and Class 5 - Novice 28 2008. Pre-entry to Alison, Secretary on 07835 998979 by Wednesday, March 20 and times available Friday, March 22 after 7pm. The RJ Monteith Perpetual Cup will be awarded to the highest placed Strule Valley Riding Club member in Prelim classes.
Ashley Robinson, EFEC Nutrition will visit the club on Wednesday, March 27 to talk about parasite management and plan a worming programme for spring, with an insight into some of the targeted testing available, such as faecal worm egg counts.
The Annual Easter Charity Pleasure Ride is planned for Monday, April 1 at Baronscourt Estate, by kind permission of the Duke of Abercorn at 11am. The charity this year again is Care for Cancer. This is open to Riding Club, Pony Club and BHS members.
Penny Sangster returns to the club in April for polework and gridwork training at Ecclesville, Fintona and the Annual Horses only Working Hunter Show to include NI Festival Qualifiers is scheduled for Saturday, April 6 at Ecclesville, Fintona, commencing at 11am. Classes are 60cm, 70cm, four-year-olds, Cobs, 80cm, Small working hunter, 90cm, 1 metre and 1.10m. The Rosie O’Grady Perpetual Cup will be awarded to the highest placed Strule Valley Riding Club member. Entries on the day. Again everyone is very welcome.
Members go to Mandi King’s yard in May for show jumping training and return to Ecclesville, Fintona at the end of May for show jumping training with William Anderson.
A cross-country training session is planned for the end of May also at Ash Hollow Equestrian with Chris Bogues and a further pleasure ride at Baronscourt Estate, by kind permission of the Duke of Abercorn, is also planned for May; not forgetting the club’s monthly pleasure rides at Gortin Glens, so it will be a busy spring for Strule Valley Riding Club members!
