Charity ride at Clandeboye raises funds for Air Ambulance NI
ILDRA hosts a charity ride and raises a fantastic £1,250 for vital work of local charity
ILDRA’s (Irish Long Distance Riding Association) latest event took place on Saturday, May 31 at Clandeboye Estate near Bangor, with a day of pleasure riding taking place to raise money for the vital work of the Air Ambulance NI, a charity well-deserving of support.
Attending riders enjoyed taking in the woodland trails throughout Clandeboye, which also meander through open areas of farmland and pass by several lakes.

ILDRA would like to greatly extend their thanks to the trustees and staff of Clandeboye Estate for their help and generosity in allowing the use of such a beautiful facility and location for hosting this event and ILDRA is delighted to announce that an amazing total of £1,250 was raised in support of Air Ambulance NI from ride entry fees and from additional donations.
Thanks also go to the McFarland family for organising and running this event on the day.
St Patrick’s Coast is now entering into its 10th occurrence, with the event planned for Saturday, August 30, offering rides for everyone from the competitive endurance rider to pleasure riders looking to enjoy a day out in spectacular countryside with their trusty steed. The hotly-contested individual and team vetted pleasure ride competition will also return for 2025 at St Patrick’s Coast.
If you are looking to take part or want to get a better indication of your horse’s overall fitness, why not try your hand at a Vetted Pleasure Ride at ILDRA’s next upcoming ride at Shane’s Castle? There is plenty of help on the day to guide you through the process.
Shane’s Castle takes place on Sunday, June 15 - all entries must be made in advance and online through ILDRA’s website.
