Clean sweep for Victoria and ‘Temple Bui’ at Hagans Croft
Jump Mix league finale sees fantastic prizes and rosettes up for grabs
Saturday, September 30 saw the final of Hagans Croft’s Jump Mix league being held. Everyone was welcome to compete, with rosettes for those placed on the day and, for those competitors who had qualified for league placings, some fantastic prizes and rosettes were up for grabs.
Everyone was a winner in the cross-poles and 40cm classes, with all those competitors who turned out three of the four weeks receiving a horse-themed pencil case set, which all five competitors were delighted with. Lauren O'Rourke's pony 'Harry' was really looking forward to eating his stud muffins, which the pair won in the 40cm league for all their efforts throughout the four weeks.

Hello and welcome to Horse&Field. Our aim is to support local, grass roots equestrian enthusiasts and competitors and keep you all informed of what’s happening in the horsey world, as well as covering all things agricultural. If you haven’t already subscribed you can do so below:
The competition was definitely underway within the 50cm class, as this was when the second part of the course - fences nine to 12 - were against the clock. Competitors really ‘upped the anti’ by taking on all the turns the course had to offer, just to shave a few seconds off the time clock.
With a total of five competitors jumping clear, this timed section is where it made the difference. It was first place for Alex Hemsley and 'Angel', who finished over fence 12 in 35.28 seconds. They also went on to be awarded first in the 50cm league! A winning day for this pair.
Hot on Alex's heels was Violet Campbell and 'Jet', who finished clear in a time of 38.85 seconds, receiving second place on the day. Rachel Stranney and 'Snowy' have been jumping consistently well throughout the four weeks and were rewarded second place within the league.
Victoria McCurdy-White have had a fantastic run throughout Hagans Croft’s four-week league; the pair have consistently placed first each week and nothing could stop them in the final. The pair had the red league rosette in their sights and, true to form, they jumped the course clear, taking all the turns within the speed section that the course had to offer and in the fastest time throughout the whole day - 32.75 seconds. Victoria and 'Temple Bui' have been a joy to watch throughout and they certainly earned their red rosette and winners of the 60cm league!
All of Violet Campbell and 'Jet’s' hard work came to fruition on Saturday in the 70cm class. The pair jumped clear in a time of 41.25 seconds and clinched both first place on the day and first place in the 70cm league! This is just the encouragement this pair needed. Abbey Stevenson and 'Echo' were the only combination to receive a double clear round in the 80cm class, therefore first place was in their sights. This placing was enough to earn them enough points to gain first place in the 80cm league also.
The Trainor sisters have been a pleasure to watch jump around the course each week and this week was no different, except for the fact that Sarah-Jayne took the win on the day with her mare 'Chelsea Rose'. Caitlin, however, took the win in the 90cm league on her beautiful mare 'Zara'. It was great to see such camaraderie between the two sisters, even with the competitive nature.
Thanks must go to all the competitors, who supported this event throughout the four weeks and to the stewards, who keep all the events running so smoothly every week! Thank you to Black Horse Photography for covering the event throughout - all photographs can be viewed and purchased from their website.
