Top class jumping at week two of indoor Winter League

The second round of the Winter show jumping League at Connell Hill (Randalstown) got off to a great start, with the cross-poles proving popular amongst the junior riders. The class was kindly sponsored by Doagh Equestrian and every combination taking part went home proud to be decorated in their multi-coloured rosettes.

Hello and welcome to Horse&Field. Our aim is to support local, grass roots equestrian enthusiasts and competitors and keep you all informed of what’s happening in the horsey world, as well as covering all things agricultural. If you haven’t already subscribed you can do so below:

There was a great performance from all competitors in all classes, including Lily Crawford in the 50cm, who moved up into the top spot on her pony ‘Candy’. There was another great performance from Lauren Gordon with her two rides, ‘Grace’ and ‘Christie’, picking up the ribbons in both the 70cm and 80cm classes.

The 90cm class was well represented by all riders and saw Noel McKee jump a lovely double clear on his young horse, four-year-old ‘Sam’.

Junior rider Darra Murphy took top place on her new ride ‘Justin’ in the 80cm, closely followed by Ballynure rider Anna Jackson on ‘Nimrod’. Darra Murphy competed again at top level in the 1.20m class, this time riding ‘Lexie’, and a well-deserved congratulations goes her way.

Logan Talbot and ‘Coco’ jumped clear in both the cross-poles and 50cm classes at Connell Hill’s Unregistered Winter League.

Well done to everyone who took part in week two of this Winter League.

Connell Hill’s Indoor Winter Show Jumping League continues next Saturday, November 18 from 10am.

The League will run every Saturday up to the final on week six, where all competitors taking part in any two shows plus the final will qualify to compete for prizes on December 9.

There are classes for everyone from cross-poles (assisted/ unassisted) up to 1.20m and entries are now open online. Late entries can also be taken on the day. Everyone is welcome.
