Competitors gain valuable points at TRI Inter-schools' show jumping league

Lurgan venue hosts classes from 50cm up to 1.10m, for primary and secondary pupils

Week three of the TRI Inter-schools’ show jumping took place on Saturday, October 18, with competitors turning out to get valuable points on the leaderboard.

Classes began with the 50cm Primary classes, with ‘The Saddle Sisters’ (Holly McCarthy, Sadie Keys, Emily McCullough and Ella Hagan) taking the win in the Primary 50cm Team class and Edie McClelland and ‘Summer’ representing Orchard County Primary School winning the 50cm Individual class, while Chloe Hall and ‘Jumanji’ for Waringstown Primary taking the red ribbon in the 60cm version.

The 70cm Primary Individual class was won by Eliza Burke and ‘Pollyoak’ for Clare PS, with the 70cm Team class being won by Tullylagan Mix Up.

The Secondary School classes commenced at 75cm, with Cailtyn Wells and ‘Phoenix’ taking the individual win for Glenlola Collegiate and Rathfriland High School winning the team event.

Jack Cowan and ‘Billy Beauty’ represented Lurgan College to win the 85cm individual class, with Ballyclare Secondary School winning the team class.

Isla McKinty and ‘Knockash Ladybird’, part of the winning 85cm Team from Ballyclare Secondary School at week three of the TRI Inter-schools’ show jumping at The Meadows.

Ballyclare Secondary pupil Isla McKinty went on to win the 1m individual class riding ‘Killorglin Boy’ , with Down High winning the team class.

Emma Burns and ‘Phil’, representing Assumption Grammar Ballynahinch, won the 1.10m individual class to conclude a highly competitive show.

Week four of the Inter-schools’ League takes place on Saturday, October 25.
