Show jumpers headed to Portmore Equestrian Centre, Aghalee again last Sunday, as the venue held another of their popular registered horse shows.
As ever, there were a number of competitors who entered and jumped clear in the 80cm, 90cm and 1m classes, while the top spot in the 1.10m class went to Sophie McKeen riding Ian Moore’s ‘Pinecroft Kamiro’. Second place went to well-known event rider Steven Smith riding Terry Johnston’s Strangford (HSI); who also claimed third on board Tessa Westbrook’s Lavori.

Hello and welcome to Horse&Field. Our aim is to support local, grass roots equestrian enthusiasts and competitors and keep you all informed of what’s happening in the horsey world, as well as covering all things agricultural. If you haven’t already subscribed you can do so below:
Smith went one better in the 1.20m class, taking the win with Caroline Overend and Carla Leitch’s CJO Kann Surprise; Laura Cazzato took second with Eric Smith’s Corkhill Quality, while third place went to Jason Patterson with his own ‘Downshire Game of Thrones’.
The fences were raised again for the 1.30m class, which saw Frank Curran ride his own ‘Kadee van Overis Z’ into first place, followed by Vikki Fox and her own ‘Bonnie McKay’ in second and Lorraine Leavesley’s Sherlocks Opium ridden by Charlotte Harding in third.
While Portmore’s weekly schedule continues, the centre looks forward to hosting its Autumn Championships from October 17-20 - save the dates!
