The SJI Summer Horse League continued at Connell Hill, Randalstown on Thursday, July 24, with classes offered from 80cm up to 1.30m - although there were no entries forward for the 1.30m on the day.
The 1.20m was the highlight of the day and saw Zoe Mellett take the win riding Martin Mellett’s 'Jasmine Tide’ to a double clear round in a fast time of 29.26, more than three seconds ahead of runner-up Ryan Hunter on his own ‘Dowdstown Lucky Boy’ who stopped the clock in 32.41. Alison Irwin on Peter Smyth’s ‘Erville Cobra’ finished a close third in 32.55.

The 1.10m class saw Ian Moore and his own ‘Pinecroft Lamiro’ once again take the top spot, ahead of Sarah Bailie and her own ‘Lisnamorrow Emeraude’ in second and Alison Irwin taking another third place, this time on board Peter Smyth’s ‘Newforest Princess’.
Seven combinations jumped double clear rounds in the 1m class, while six horses and riders rode faultless rounds over the 90cm track and two kept all the poles in place in the 80cm class.
The SJI Summer Horse League continues at Connell Hill on Thursday, July 31, with entries via SJI Live; Training Shows continue every Saturday at the centre, with entries taken on the day.
