Equine antidote to Christmas lull
Local results and pics, and an opportunity to plan your horsey schedule!
Hello everyone,
I hope that you are all enjoying a wee break over Christmas and that all your wishes came true! It is a quieter week in equine terms, so for those who aren’t racing or hunting today, I thought I would send a newsletter to give everyone a little equestrian boost…
Hopefully, you can have a read through the results from Hagans Croft and Laurel View, read about a (non-horsey, but local) guy from the Sperrins who is now podcasting and, speaking of which, you can read about one of my previous podcast guests, Corey Mawhinney and see some great pictures of him in action. Corey is now coaching, as well as judging, and will hopefully have some dates to share in due course for forthcoming clinics.

You might also have a few minutes to spare to have a look at the Horse & Field calendar and plan your horse and pony activities for the weeks and even months ahead - there are currently dates listed right through until the spring, with leagues and one-off shows at all our local equestrian centres. Don’t forget there are also various activities scheduled for this weekend, starting from Friday!
This Horse&Field newsletter brings you the latest equine news, as well as reports, results and pictures from the couple of local competitions over the past week or so, namely the Christmas Dressage event at Hagans Croft and the charity dressage competition at Laurel View.
Rocking around the Christmas trees at Hagans Croft
Saturday, December 21 saw a throng of Santas, Mrs Clauses, elves, Grinches and Rudolphs descend upon Hagans Croft’s Christmas Dressage event. If competitors were not feeling the Christmas spirit before hand, they certainly left full of the festive joys after the event. With classes on offer from Intro to Elementary and extra Freestyle to Christmas music…
AWARE benefit from Charity Dressage at Laurel View
Laurel View patrons have always been great at supporting the annual charity dressage competition and 2024 was no exception.

Equestrian Inspirations: Corey Mawhinney
In the 14th Straight from the Horse's Mouth podcast on Horse and Field, I had a super chat with Corey Mawhinney. This proved very popular and received some very positive feedback - mainly due to Corey’s lovely personality.
