Fantastic win for Lucy at Banbridge Charity Horse and Pony Show
Two days of competition saw horses take to the ring on Saturday, June 7
Banbridge Charity Horse and Pony Show saw two days of registered show jumping competition being held at The Meadows Equestrian Centre, Lurgan on Saturday, June 7 and Sunday, June 8, with horse classes running on the Saturday and ponies on the Sunday (the latter will be covered in a separate report).
The horse classes included the SJI Summer Series and ran from 90cm up to a 1.30m Grand Prix and there were some impressive combinations out to claim the ribbons and the rugs that were on offer.
The feature of the day was the 1.30m Alland Grand Prix, which saw some competitive jumping in an attempt to secure the top spot. Lucy Morton had a ‘fantastic’ show and took the win and the rug here with a flawless round on Hibernia Horses Ltd’s ‘Che Fantastica’; Lucy also placed sixth in the class on board Maureen Moore’s ‘Cassclo Beach’. Catherine Thornton was just pipped to the post and settled for second place on Keonan Stables Ltd’s ‘Clovalent’, followed by Shane Treanor riding Sean Jordan’s ‘Nikittaire Van’T Oosterzand’ into third; while Patricia Stewart Greer was fourth on Gary Stewart’s ‘Domino Z’ and Alison Irwin took fifth on Peter Smyth’s ‘Drumiller Detroit’.
