Flexi Eventing set to commence at The Meadows
Lurgan venue prepares for the popular series offering three phases of competition
The very popular Baileys Horse Feeds Flexi Eventing series at The Meadows Equestrian Centre, Lurgan begins on Saturday, January 13 and runs each Saturday until February 24. The actual league will run for six weeks and prizes will be awarded on the final, non-qualifying day, February 24.
This has, once again, been very generously sponsored to the tune of £1,000 by Baileys Horse Feeds, with points being awarded for performance of combinations, as well as attendance each week up until February 17.
Cash prizes will be presented to the top 15 in the League.
Hello and welcome to Horse&Field. Our aim is to support local, grass roots equestrian enthusiasts and competitors and keep you all informed of what’s happening in the horsey world, as well as covering all things agricultural. If you haven’t already subscribed you can do so below:
Dressage, which must be pre-entered with Dora Beacom (dorabeacom@live.co.uk or 07876 758979) by 5pm on the Wednesday of each week, takes place in Arena 1 and caters for Intro, Pre-Novice, Novice and Intermediate (subject to demand) levels. When making your dressage entries, please ensure that you indicate the height you plan to show jump, if doing so, to enable a suitable dressage time to be given.
Show jumping in Arena 2 starts at 9am with two heights (70cm and 1m) running simultaneously. These will subsequently be raised to 80cm and 1.10m, followed by 90cm and 1.20m.
The cross-country phase will take place in Arena 3 starting at 9.00am with four full courses of superb fences set at 70cm, 80cm, 90cm and 1m. Show jumping and cross-country entries are to be made via the Meadows Equestrian Centre website (www.themec.co.uk) with a closing date of 6pm on each Friday.
The Flexi Eventing is open to everyone and costs £15 per discipline.
Competitors can choose to do any or all of the three disciplines.
Plaiting is not necessary, but proper dress should be worn and suitable Body Protectors MUST be worn for cross-country. Please note that the BETA Level 3 body protector with the year 2009 (purple label) will not be acceptable from January 1, 2024.
