Future eventing stars shine at The Meadows

Combined Training and DAFM Autumn Development Series brings talent to Lurgan venue

Sunday, November 3 saw a Combined Training and DAFM Autumn Development Series competition being held at The Meadows Equestrian Centre, Lurgan. Combined Training classes ran from EI80 up to EI110 and were open to all ages of horses, while the DAFM Development Series classes were AE90 for four-year-old horses, AE90 for five-year-old ponies, AE100 for five-year-old horses, AE100 for six and seven-year-old ponies and AE110 for six and seven-year-old horses.

The generous prize fund for the DAFM classes was €8,300, while the Combined Training classes had £100 up for grans in each class.

Some very talented youngsters were brought out for the day, showing great promise for the future! Alongside them, horses and ponies of all ages took the opportunity to compete in the Combined Training classes.

Steven Smith and ‘CJO Kann Surprise’ came fifth in the DAFM Development Series AE110 Six and Seven-year-old class at The Meadows.

David O’Connor rode ‘Tullymurry All or Nothing’ to win the DAFM four-year-old class, ahead of Sarah Ennis on ‘Sunny’ in second. The five-year-old class went to Steven Smith and ‘You Neek’, with Erin Mathieson and ‘Flamenco Gypsy’ slotting into second place.

Sarah Ennis made her journey north worthwhile,when she won the six and seven-year-old class with ‘Dolmen Stellor Design’, followed by Lexi Kilfeather on ‘Haschich de Talma’ in second.
