Helen placed for Strule Valley club at NIRC show jumping championships
Helen Badger and ‘Gamble on Cruise’ secured fifth place in the 85cm class and fourth in the 95cm class at Knockagh View
Strule Valley Riding Club member Helen Badger and ‘Gamble on Cruise’ recently competed at the Northern Ireland Riding Clubs’ Show jumping Championships at Knockagh View Equestrian Centre, Greenisland, and took two excellent placings of fifth in the 85cm class and fourth in the 95cm class.

Hello and welcome to Horse&Field. Our aim is to support local, grass roots equestrian enthusiasts and competitors and keep you all informed of what’s happening in the horsey world, as well as covering all things agricultural. If you haven’t already subscribed you can do so below:
The club has finished three weeks of show jumping training with Mandi King at her arena and now look forward to the start of their summer schedule, which commences with show jumping training with William Anderson on three Wednesdays in June at the beautiful Castle Irvine, Necarne.
Another pleasure ride is planned for Bank Holiday Monday, May 26 at Baronscourt Estate, by kind permission of the Duke of Abercorn and Lord Hamilton.
The Annual Summer Show jumping League commences on Wednesday, June 25 at Castle Irvine, Necarne, commencing at 7pm each night with the 60cm class, followed by 70cm, 80cm, 90cm and 1 metre open. The league is open to everyone, members and non-members, ponies and horses and everyone is most welcome. Entries are on the night and are £12 per class.
The same pony/horse/rider combination should compete in two out of three weeks to be eligible for perpetual cups and prizes on the final night. Prizes so far for the final night have been generously sponsored by Bailey’s Horse Feeds in Ireland, Kyle Hayes, Aldertree Equine, Ami Kwasniewska, AK Equine and Tamlaght Equestrian Care.
Cross-country training is planned for Tuesday, July 22 with Penny Sangster at the fantastic Ash Hollow Equestrian from 6-9pm; one hour lessons and a maximum of four per group. BRC members are very welcome to join in these cross-country sessions and other training nights.
A busy August is also planned, with a pleasure ride at Castle Irvine, Necarne, followed by three weeks of flatwork training with Mary Devine, Devine Equine at Ami Kwasniewska’s arena.
