Hot competition at Meadows' Balmoral qualifiers

Lurgan venue runs RUAS Balmoral Qualifiers alongside their regular Horse Show

The Meadows Equestrian Centre was a hive of activity on Saturday, March 29, as the Lurgan venue held RUAS Balmoral Qualifiers alongside their regular Horse Show.

The RUAS Five-Year-Old Championship Qualifier was won by Deane Rogan riding Declan McGarry’s ‘MCG Carrow Kuhnstuck’, followed by Andrew Farren on his own ‘Entertainer Z’ in second.

In the RUAS Six & Seven-Year-Old Championship Qualifier, Sophie Richards steered her own and Maurice Cousins’s ‘Havana MK Z’ into the top spot, with Kevin Mackey runner-up on board Alyson Henry’s ‘‘Caugherty Ronan’.

The RUAS 1.35m Championship Qualifier went the way of Seamus Heverin’s ‘MVS Celtic Emperor’, with Katie Nallon in the saddle, while Eve Donnelly was next best on Francis Donnelly’s ‘Crystal Tom’.

Meanwhile, the RUAS Amateur Championship Qualifier saw the win going to Kevin O’Reilly on his own ‘Furore S’, with Shauna Wilson close behind in second on her own ‘Omard Hannah’.

It was a good day for Katie Scott, as she did the double, winning the 1.10m class on board Stephen Lowry’s ‘Dullerton Gin Fizz’ and then claimed the red rosette in the 1.20m class with her own 'Loughehoe Rebel’.

Alyssa O'Neill rode her own ‘DS Candescent’ to win the 1.30m class.
