ILDRA heads to remote and rugged Glenariff Forest Park
Riders enjoy mountainous trails winding through the scenic Glens of Antrim landscape
ILDRA (Irish Long Distance Riding Association) headed north on Sunday, September 22 for a day of pleasure rides at the remote and rugged Glenariff Forest Park. Under cloudy skies, riders and their mounts took to the mountainous trails winding through the scenic Glens of Antrim landscape.
Riding through forested trails, through a river crossing and climbing up hills to give breath-taking views across the surrounding landscape, all attending riders returned with smiling faces, having enjoyed their day out.
Jenny King, was the lucky winner of the Bailey’s Horse Feed bag of feed, kindly donated by Judy Maxwell, with Jenny taking home a bag of Ease and Excel feed. Thanks go to Bailey’s and Judy for the continued to support to ILDRA, having provided a bag of feed at every ride for a lucky winner.
Thanks go to ride organiser, Gail Baillie and her team of helpers on the day, Richard Lammey and Evelyn Meharg, for running and marking the event on the day and to Zoe Shields and Andrea Woodside for their assistance in helping all riders safely cross the road to access the vast trails on offer. Thanks go to the Forestry Service for allowing access and to the Crawford family for allowing access to their farm tracks, extending the ride route length available.
ILDRA’s next ride takes place at Castle Ward near Strangford on Saturday, October 19, with pleasure rides only. All entries must be made in advance and online via ILDRA’s Facebook page, contact ILDRA’s Facebook page for further information.
