ILDRA kicks off 2024 season with two Pleasure Rides
Riders clear the cobwebs at Shane's Castle and Tollymore Forest
ILDRA (Irish Long Distance Riding Association) kicked off their 2024 endurance season with two pleasure ride events being held. The first was at Shane’s Castle on Sunday, January 21, with the ride taking in the sights across the sprawling estate, including a jaunt over to Randalstown Forest.
ILDRA’s second event took place at Tollymore Forest Park on Sunday, February 11 for the annual St Valentine’s Ride. Riders enjoyed the stunning views across the Mourne Mountains and surrounding countryside.
Thanks go to the ride organisers and helpers for both events, including the McFarland family, Kirsten Conly, Ros Morcombe, Jocelyn Willis, David Cunningham and John Anderson.
Thanks also go to the forestry service for allowing access to Randalstown and Tollymore Forest Parks and to the O’Neill family and Shane’s Castle Estate staff for allowing access to Shane’s Castle.
Thanks also go to Judy Maxwell of Bailey’s Horse Feeds for sponsoring a bag of horse feed for each of ILDRA’s ride events, with the lucky rider having their entry number drawn out and being presented at the ride - well done to the winners so far.
ILDRA’s next ride featuring pleasure rides, vetted pleasure rides and competitive trail rides takes place at Cam Forest near Limavady on February 25. All entries must be made in advance and online via ILDRA’s website: www.enduranceridingireland.com
