Impressive jumping at The Meadows

Registered classes include Young Horse Challenge at Lurgan venue

The Meadows, Lurgan, hosted another Spring Horse Show and MEC Young Horse Challenge on Saturday, April 19, with classes running from 80cm up to 1.30m, catering for four, five, six and seven-year-olds.

A long list of combinations jumped clear rounds in the 80cm to 1m classes, while Gwyn Yemm and his own ‘Doonini Z’ won the 1.10m class, which included AA Amateurs and MEC Six-Year-Old Challenge, followed by Danni Jennings and her own ‘Super Star’ in second.

The 1.20m class, including MEC Young Horse Seven-Year-Old Challenge, saw Kerry Taggart take the win on board her own and Sean Kelly’s McCleans Pacino Royale. Danni Jennings was runner-up again with her own ‘Super Star’, while Gwyn Yemm and ‘Doonini Z’ placed third this time.

The 1.30m class was won by Natasha Foley riding Jerome Foley’s ‘Cillbhrid Excel’, followed by Jodie Creighton with Hilary Furlonger’s ‘Poppys Flash Back’ in the runner-up spot and Ellie Humphries on Allison Mercer’s ‘Rossmount Luis’ in third.

Jumping continues at The Meadows with midweek as well as weekend competitions.
