Lusk Equestrian sees a busy day of Working Hunter

First in a series of three shows goes down well with competitors

Lusk Equestrian held the first of their now annual series of three Working Hunter shows on Sunday, February 2, starting sharp at 10am.

Parents had asked Jenny to include a 40 to 50cm beginners’ class for those children starting out on their competition road. Class 1a had only five entrants, but all seemed to enjoy the day, with everyone coming in for the prize giving. It was Myia Latto on ‘Dale’, who took home the red rosette, with a huge smile on her face.

Alex Hemsley, who also rode ‘Dale’, placed second in the 60cm class, behind Katie Pryor riding ‘Carlsberg’, but Alex combined with ‘Pablo’ to win the much larger 70cm class.

Rachel Conn won both the Young Horse and the Traditional Irish Horse classes on ‘Brooklyn Heights’, while Chloe Rooney, Ben Rainey, Kate McLaughlin and Poppy McMurray all won in their respective classes.

Chloe Rooney on ‘Markie’ won the 143cm pony class at the first of Lusk’s Working Hunter shows.

Judges on the day, Vicky Teuton (jumping) and Claire Shearer (conformation), complemented on the high standard of the course and the horses presented to them.

Sarah Whiteside, Fran Warden and Sharlene Scott worked hard all day to keep the show going, while Becky Belshaw kept the hungry competitors well-fed in the cafe.

The next Working Hunter show is on March 2, 2025 - all entries with Sarah on 07840 117132.
