Magnificent mares perform at NIHB show
Mares’ Development classes attract top competitors to The Meadows
The Northern Ireland Horse Board held a show including Mares’ Development classes, with prizes funded by the Irish Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and the Marine (DAFM) through a Horse Sport Ireland grant.
Shane O’Reilly made the day his own with a double and firstly took the win in the 1.30m class, which included the Premium Mares’ Development class, with Brian McConville’s ‘BWE Windsor’. The runner-up spot went to Jodie Creighton riding Carol M Armstrong’s ‘Cornascriebe Electra Diamond’,with Laura Cazzato riding Eric Smith’s ‘Corkhill Quality’ in third.

O’Reilly took his second win in the 1.20m class, which included the Gold Mares’ Development class, with another of Brian McConville’s horses, ‘BWE Vain Hero’, while James O'Reilly rode yet another of McConville’s horses, ‘Derena Something Special’, into second place. Enda Ivanoff took third place with his own ‘Nubalia DHF’.
The 1.10m class, which included the Silver Mares’ Development class, was won by Caroline Gaston with her own ‘Miss Roman Kora’, ahead of Egle Zakaraite and her own ‘Talbot Siss’ in second and Beverly Irwin on Lisa Rosbotham’s ‘Novellent’ in third.

The 1m class, which included the Bronze Mares’ class, saw 13 combinations jumping clear, while two combinations jumped the 90cm track without penalty.
