Monsoons impact but don't stop equestrian activities
Despite some cancellations, some local shows were able to go ahead
Hi folks,
After the monsoons that we experienced last week, a few of the weekend competitions unfortunately had to be cancelled, whether due to flooded arenas, flooded roads or simply because competitors had been unable to get out to ride prior to the events.
This means the competitions that did go ahead were all the more important to the riders involved!
This Horse&Field newsletter brings you results and pictures from some of these local competitions, which included show jumping, Working Hunter and dressage; as well as information on forthcoming events. More equestrian coverage will follow later in the week.
The final of the show jumping league took place at Ecclesville on Friday night, which was also the culmination of the Super League for 2023. Connell Hill held the final of their Winter Show Jumping League on Saturday, with great excitement about who would take the silverware home!
Knockagh View held their Christmas Show alongside their Dressage League final on Sunday and, with plenty of festive fancy dress, everyone was getting into the Christmas spirit!
It was a busy weekend at Connell Hill, as the centre held the second of their Working Hunter shows on Sunday, with a good turnout of horses and ponies out to take on the challenge of a rustic track.
On an educational note, a new muscle wastage scoring guide has been introduced to help owners.
Looking ahead, Ardnacashel has announced another exciting clinic - this one being a cross-country clinic with Irish Olympian Joseph Murphy. Find out more by clicking on the link below!
