Great turnout for Route Hunt Pony Club Schools’ Show Jumping competition

There was a great turnout for the Schools’ Show Jumping Competition held on Saturday, March 29 at the RDA Causeway and Glens Arena, Coleraine. Under the auspices of the Route Hunt Pony Club, this included a qualifier for the Bluegrass Schools’ Show Jumping Championships to be held at Balmoral on Saturday, May 18.

It was a wet morning for the youngest competitors, but they all competed very successfully in the poor weather conditions. Thankfully, the weather improved and remained dry for the rest of the day, with only the slight problem of strong winds blowing fences over! This was soon solved by sandbags to stabilise the fences.

The team from Assumption Grammar, Ballynahinch: Brody, Emma Burns; Budore Mystic Legend, Emily Turley; Gelato, Molly Marner; Thornhill Jenny, Riona Savage, won the Balmoral Schools’ Qualifier at the RDA Causeway and Glens Arena, Coleraine.

The qualifier was supported by seven teams and provided a nail-biting competition for the coveted single qualifying place. Assumption Grammar, Ballynahinch made their long journey worthwhile and remained faultless throughout to claim this spot.

Thanks to the judges throughout the day and all the other hardworking helpers, who made for a very successful and enjoyable day.
