NIHB announces Foal Championships at Meadows Equestrian Centre
Event set to showcase the finest young equine talent in Northern Ireland

The Northern Ireland Horse Board (NIHB) is thrilled to announce the highly anticipated Foal Championships, set to take place at the prestigious Meadows Equestrian Centre in Lurgan on Wednesday, August 30. This thrilling event will showcase the finest young equine talent in Northern Ireland and promises to be a day filled with excitement, competition and celebration.
With a total prize fund of £1,500 up for grabs, the Foal Championships will attract breeders, owners, producers and horse enthusiasts from across Ireland. This event offers a unique opportunity to witness the potential and promise of future equine champions as they compete in three different classes: Show Jumping Foal, sponsored this year by Lougherne Stud; Eventing Foal, sponsored by Baileys Horse Feeds and Traditional Foal, sponsored by MGM Logistics Ireland. Foals from all over Ireland are welcome to compete, with classes open to all foals, including those not part of a recognised studbook.

Prize money will be presented to the top three in each class: £250 to the winner, £150 to second place, whilst third place will take home £100. Placings fourth, fifth and sixth will receive bags of feed, generously sponsored by Baileys Horse Feeds.
The Meadows Equestrian Centre, known for its state-of-the-art facilities and commitment to equestrian excellence, is the perfect location to host this prestigious event. Its sprawling grounds, impressive arenas and experienced staff ensure that both participants and spectators will be well catered for.

The Foal Championships classes will include conformation evaluations, in-hand presentations and free movement demonstrations. Renowned judges, experts in their respective fields, will assess each foal, based on their breed characteristics, movement and overall potential.
