Northern Indoor Pony Championships fast approaching
Eglinton Equestrian Club looks forward to two weekends of show jumping excitement
Eglinton Equestrian Club will bring some exciting show jumping to the Co. Derry venue over the next two weekends. This week, September 27 to 29 is the Northern Indoor Pony Championships.
With 30 classes and a prize fund of over £8,000 on offer, this is sure to be a well-supported and competitive affair! Horse Sport Ireland (HSI) are supporting the show with a generous prize fund for the young pony classes and many of the competitions also form part of the Ulster Region TRI Autumn Tour, in addition to points for the Ulster Region cups.
All classes have a rug on offer and, thanks to sponsorship from Ronan McLaughlin Equestrian, in the 128cm 50cm and 60cm classes on Saturday, every competitor will receive a rug!
The Leading Rider of the show will receive a jump worth £500 from Sparkling Equine.
The following weekend, October 4 to 6, the horses will jump for over £15,000. There are classes from 80cm up to the Grand Prix.
The four-year-old championship is always very popular, with consistency over the three days required to win rather than the normal judges’ marks.
The crowd’s favourite is always Saturday night’s Irish Masters, which has produced many memorable moments through the years.
The show will conclude with the Eglinton Grand Prix on Sunday evening.
Both of these shows will make for excellent viewing for spectators.
