RDA coaches gather for a training day at Longstone RDA Centre
Julie Frazer shares what a constructive day was had by all in Armagh
On Friday, RDA Northern Ireland Region organised a training day for coaches, kindly hosted by Longstone RDA Centre, Armagh. The Regional Coach, Christine Hankin delivered the Coaching Module, which is an essential part of the Coaching Pathway for Trainees, as well as qualifying for CPD for the Group Coaches and members of the senior Coaching Team, who were also present.
Hello and welcome to Horse&Field. Our aim is to support local, grass roots equestrian enthusiasts and competitors and keep you all informed of what’s happening in the horsey world, as well as covering all things agricultural. If you haven’t already subscribed you can do so below:
Altogether there were 26 people in attendance, of whom eight were Trainees, so it is really encouraging to see new recruits to RDA, who are willing to step up and put in the effort to complete their training to become RDA coaches. They are the future and we should do everything we can to support them.

There was a wide variety of experience present at each table for the interactive discussions, which led to some interesting and constructive debate, which will hopefully prove informative for everyone. As a coach with some 30 years’ experience myself, I always learn something from listening to others and pick up new ideas. The fact that so many attended would seem to indicate that there is considerable appetite for more face-to-face training at all levels and that we have all had enough of Zoom!
