Witches, ghosts and werewolves were lurking at Templepatrick venue

It’s very scary how quickly time has slipped by since the Laurel View Hallowe’en Show, but as Santa has been sighted already, these results are overdue.

Witches, ghosts and werewolves were lurking around the show jumping and obstacle courses.

Hello and welcome to Horse&Field. Our aim is to support local, grass roots equestrian enthusiasts and competitors and keep you all informed of what’s happening in the horsey world, as well as covering all things agricultural. If you haven’t already subscribed you can do so below:

One werewolf with a clipboard kept the rarer than usual assortment of competitors coming forward, while a zombie or two with the Equi-Tog cameras captured the competitors in action.

Thankfully, spooks weren’t too frequent and this long list of winners highlights those who took it all in their stride. Hopefully, many will shed their spooky attire and return for some festive fun at the upcoming Charity Dressage Show for Aware NI and then for the Christmas Cracker Show, with more show jumping and obstacle courses to tackle.

Hallowe’en Show

Obstacle Course

Class 1 - Lead Rein/Assisted:

1) Robbie, Charlotte Morton; 2) Guinness, Frankie-Rose Canavan; 3) Connie, Lucy Lewis; 4) Hey Look at Mee, Georgia Davey; 5) Dainty, Emma Kennedy; 6) Pepsi, Lukas Kennedy.

Frankie-Rose Canavan and ‘Guinness’ took second place after the led obstacle course at Laurel View’s Hallowe’en Show.

Class 2 - Rider under 13 years:

1) Guinness, Anna Thompson; 2) Marley, Hanna Szymanska; 3) Jamie, Mya McKay; 4) Toby, Anastasia Rowan; 5) Barney, Josephine McKay Dunne; 6) Toby, Anna Nicholson.

Lucy Lewis and ‘Connie’ secured third place around the obstacle course at Laurel View’s Hallowe’en Show.

Class 3 - Rider 13 years & over:

1) Jeeves, Holly Hanvey; 2) Jamie, Alice Jones; 3) Schumi, Sophia McKay; 4) Rosie, Katelyn McDonnell; 5) Master Montalto, Erin Johnston.

Class 4 - Cross-Poles (led):

1) Harry Pony, Harry Johnston; 2) Spot, Lexa Clarke; 3) Hey Look at Mee, Georgia Davey; 4) Patches, Olivia Rankin; 5) Dainty, Emma Kennedy; 6) Pepsi, Lukas Kennedy.

Show Jumping

Class 5 - Cross-Poles (unled):

Grace Jenkins and ‘Lady’ took home third place for the unassisted cross-poles class at Laurel View’s Hallowe’en Show.

Class 6 - 30cm:

1) Ben, Takara Ferguson; 2) Barney, Amalie Geffert; 3) Lady, Lena Twardzicka.

Amalie Geffert and ‘Barney’ took the blue ribbon over the 30cm fences at Laurel View’s Hallowe’en Show.

Class 7 - 45cm:

1) Ben, Sarah-Grace Blelock; 2) George, Dominic Mullen; 3) Mayday Mayday, Sophie Hastings.

Class 8 - 55cm:

1) Rosie, Katelyn McDonnell; 2) Bubbles, Sienna Doherty.

Class 9 - 60cm:

1) Charmer, Lucy Johnston; 2) Jupiter, Alice Lutton; 3) Stocky, Ellen Acheson.

‘Jupiter’ and Alice Lutton jump into second place over the 60cm course at Laurel View’s Hallowe’en Show.

Class 10 - 70cm:

Ellen Acheson and ‘Stocky’ took third place in the 60cm class at Laurel View’s Hallowe’en Show.
