**PLEASE SEE UPDATED ARTICLE** Saintfield Christmas Charity Ride route announced
Important instructions for Santas taking part in this year's ride
This year’s Saintfield Christmas Charity Ride is due to be held on Saturday, December 2. Santas will meet at Andrews Yard, 50 Lisburn Road, Saintfield for a mulled wine and mince pie reception.
Hello and welcome to Horse&Field. Our aim is to support local, grass roots equestrian enthusiasts and competitors and keep you all informed of what’s happening in the horsey world, as well as covering all things agricultural. If you haven’t already subscribed you can do so below:
Organisers will endeavour to park as many horseboxes in the yard as possible, but as many people know, it's a hugely popular event. There will be stewards to direct any overflow of horseboxes onto the Old Belfast Road, which is very close to the yard and you can walk across the road to the mulled wine reception.
Everyone will mount up and ride out at 12 noon sharp, as the ride is to be on Saintfield Main Street at 1.15pm. However, if you are running late, there will be another mulled wine reception after the ride and everyone is more than welcome. Winnie Clingan will have her catering wagon beside the reception in the yard.

Anyone leading small children may join the ride, if they wish, at the end of the Windmill Road. The distance of the full ride is approximately four miles and even some adults, who feel it's perhaps too long for them, can park safely and join in at any stage of the ride.
It is strictly a hack, but it's essential that everyone stays together, because the police will not allow the ride onto the Main Road unless everyone is together.
Entries are being taken online, so that saves anyone worrying about joining in at any point.
”I would like to remind everyone that it’s all for a truly wonderful cause that is going to help thousands of people in Uganda,” said Joan.
SO PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO PAY YOUR ENTRY FEE.
Prizes for the Best Dressed Santa will be awarded on Saintfield Main Street by a Celebrity Guest.
“I pray we all have the best day ever and, most importantly, stay safe and make sure you all have your own insurance. God bless,” Joan concluded.
