Saintfield Horse Show, which was due to take place at Gerry McPolin’s in Ballynahinch on Saturday, had to be relocated at the last minute to Knockagh View Equestrian Centre in Greenisland - literally two days before the show.

Saintfield Horse Show Director Joan Cunningham said: "Without doubt it had to be the biggest upheaval we have ever had to face since our first Show in 2009, but many, many thanks to our two hosts, Ruth and Scott Logan, who literally moved mountains and couldn't do enough to help us. I also want to thank the entire Horse Show team, who all worked tirelessly to make it all happen.

“Everyone had to be informed of the change of venue, which was made even more difficult with the very short notice. We had quite a lot of trade stands arranged to come along, but understandably due to the fact they were mostly local, there was no point in them attending.
Joan continued: “It was a fabulous day... The weather was superb, with the exception of one very heavy downpour, which thankfully only lasted a few minutes. There was a wonderful turnout of horses and ponies and, of course not forgetting the dogs, who were all barking mad with happiness at meeting up with so many friends.
“Box Car and Gerard Dornan arrived and totally livened the whole place up with their fantastic music. All that remains to be said is many thanks to judges, competitors, sponsors and every person who rallied round to help in any way. God willing we'll see you all next year," Joan concluded.

There were the usual variety of horse and pony ridden and in-hand showing classes, including Racehorse to Riding Horse and the Ulster Tatler Ladies Side Saddle Championship, as well as Working Hunter classes and a dog show. Impeccably turned out competitors vied for the ribbons and, in some cases, sashes and silverware that were on offer. Well done to them all for making the effort to come along and support this charity show!
