Week two of Connell Hill’s indoor winter league was held on Saturday, November 9 and kicked off with the pony cross-poles class, with all competitors taking part picking up pretty rosettes. kindly sponsored by Doagh Equestrian.
Sorcha Maher opened the 50cm class with a lovely round on ‘Angel’, tying with Sarah Kirkpatrick on ‘Volvo’ and Ruby Gage on ‘Poppy’. Sarah Kirkpatrick went on to win the 60cm class on ‘Volvo’, followed closely by Sarah Wilson on ‘Portia’ and Charlotte Harding on young horse ‘Bear’ gaining joint second place.

A super combination, Perrie Barkley partnered with her first horse ‘Coco’, won the 70cm class, with Molly Clarke on ‘Abbey’ and Emma Hoy on ‘Bounty’ securing joint second, and Charlotte Baird on ‘Whiskey’ taking third.
This week again saw very strong competition and talent, with all riders taking double clear rounds in the 80cm class, including father and daughter team, John and Anna Jackson on their mounts ‘Apollo’ and ‘Obie’ and Charlotte Harding on young horse ‘Jack’, just some of the skilful combinations.
The 90cm class saw Samantha Billings on ‘Nimrod’, with the Wylie sisters Leah and Rihanna taking joint first place on their ponies ‘Bessie’ and ‘Shadow’.
Lucy Sullivan on ‘Romeo’ and Alexandra McConnell on ‘Bert’ were joint first in the metre class, with Alexandra going on to win the 1.10m with a lovely double clear on ‘Bert’!

Connell Hill’s Winter League will continue to run on Saturdays throughout November and into December, starting at 10am. There are classes to suit everyone from pony cross-poles (assisted/unassisted) up to 1.20m.
Qualifying dates in November are Saturdays, 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, and also Saturday, December 7. The final will be held on Saturday, December 14 at Connell Hill’s Christmas Show.
All combinations must compete at three shows plus the final on December 14, 2024 to be eligible for Trophies, Sashes, Vouchers and Prizes. Classes to suit all levels.

Please note:
ALL RIDERS WHO COMPETED IN WEEKS 1 AND 2 WILL BE ACCREDITED WITH QUALIFYING WEEKS TOWARDS THEIR THREE QUALIFYING SHOWS REQUIRED TO RECEIVE PRIZES, SASHES, VOUCHERS, AND TROPHIES IN THE FINAL.
Shows continue this week, Saturday, November 16 and will run alongside the Pony Club Qualifiers on this date. This is week three of the Indoor Winter League.
A warm welcome will be extended to everyone who comes along, whether competing, spectating or just socialising with a hot snack and cup of tea from Debbie Dunlop’s cafe.
