SJI competitors show their talents at Portmore

Classes from 80cm up to 1.30m held in the centre's outdoor arena

Portmore Equestrian Centre, Aghalee held an SJI Horse Show on Sunday, March 16, with classes from 80cm up to 1.30m. It was a dry, bright day as horses and riders showed their talents over the testing track in the outdoor arena.

Owner-riders took the top three places in the 1.10m class, with Christopher Brown taking the win on board his own ‘Magherard Cornets Shadow’. Brooklyn Edwards rode his own ‘Mr Cava Blue’ into the runner-up spot, followed by Billy Adrain on his own ‘Dancing Flamenco’ in third.

The 1.20m class saw Laura Brown-McCann take the top spot on her own ‘Gracefield Mufasa’, with Aidan O’Brien securing both second and third places with Kieran O'Brien’s ‘Baskin Centerfold’ and Daniel Coyle’s ‘Rock Angelo’ respectively.

There were only two placings in the 1.30m class, with Joanne Blair riding Mark Harley’s ‘Tinneys Ballyheerin Star’ (ISH) into first place, followed by Aidan O'Brien on Kieran O'Brien’s ‘Doneybrewer Quest’ in second.

This coming weekend will see Portmore hosting a Horse and Pony Training Show on Saturday, March 22, with classes from cross-poles to 1.30m. Entries will be taken at the show.

On Sunday, March 23, an SJI Horse Show will be held, with entries via SJI.
