St Patrick's weekend got off to a flying start at Connell Hill
Show jumping Training Show has classes to suit all levels
St Patrick’s weekend at Connell Hill Equestrian, Randalstown, got off to a flying start on Saturday morning, with competitors taking full advantage of this glorious spring weather to school their horses over tracks built to offer confidence, while aiming to progress up through the heights.
This enjoyable day, with lots of encouragement from the side-lines, commenced with a full house of clear rounds for the junior riders in the pony cross-poles and 50cm classes. The course was adjusted for the 60cm class, which saw Sarah Kirkpatrick and Naoishe McPeake with super double clear rounds.

Dean Bell then demonstrated his talents, jumping in the 70cm class on young horse ‘Bonny’. An outright winner of the 80cm was Laura Canavan on ‘Diamond’, who went on to jump again in the 90cm class achieving another joint first, tying with Ben Maybin on ‘Romeo’. Karen Walker on ‘Ellie’ took the red rosettes in the metre class, alongside Kevin Mackey on ‘Misty’.
Victoria Grieves rode a lovely double clear round on ‘Twister’ to conclude the final class of the day, the 1.10m.
Well done to everyone who took part!
