Strule Valley show jumping league gets underway
First week of a four-week league well-supported at Castle Irvine, Necarne
Strule Valley Riding Club held the first night of their Annual Summer Show jumping League on Wednesday, June 25 at Castle Irvine, Necarne, with fantastic entries. The club would like to thank everyone for coming to compete.
The league continues on Wednesdays, July 2 and 9, with the final scheduled for Wednesday, July 16. Each evening starts at 7pm with 60cm, followed by 70cm, 80cm, 90cm and 1 metre open. Points are awarded each week and optimum time will decide placings on the final evening, in the event of equal placings.

Hello and welcome to Horse&Field. Our aim is to support local, grass roots equestrian enthusiasts and competitors and keep you all informed of what’s happening in the horsey world, as well as covering all things agricultural. If you haven’t already subscribed you can do so below:
Perpetual Cups for the league are The AJS Promotions Perpetual Cup, The Strule Valley Riding Club Perpetual Cup, The LW Surphlis & Son Perpetual Trophy, The Good Gracious Perpetual Cup, The Omagh Equestrian and Countrywear Perpetual Cup and The Fordie Cathers Perpetual Cup to the highest placed Strule Valley Riding Club member.
Prizes for the final are being very kindly sponsored by Bailey’s Horse Feeds in Ireland, Aldertree Equine, AK Equine, Tamlaght Equestrian Care, Ash Hollow Equestrian and Science Supplements.
The same horse/pony/rider combination should compete in the same class two out of three weeks to be eligible for perpetual cups and prizes on the final night, however everyone is very welcome to attend each week.

The club is asking for all Perpetual Cups to be returned to them for the final and, if possible, wear your show wear on the final night - however, show wear is not essential. Show wear on the final night is something the club’s first chairperson Eve Stafford preferred and organisers try to carry this tradition on.
The club would like to thank Seamus McCaffrey for course-building, assisted by Robyn Livinstone, Alison Donnell, Zoe Keys and Rhiannon Ferguson.
Thanks to Chris Bogle for judging; Gillian Hynes and Katie Clarke, entries; Alison Donnell, gate and to everyone else who helped in any way.
Thanks also to A Taste of the Countryside for providing catering.
