Sun and competitors shine at IPS NA Summer Show

Gransha proved a super venue for ridden, in-hand and Working Hunter classes

The Irish Pony Society (IPS) Northern Area (NA) held their Summer Show at Gransha Equestrian Centre on Saturday, July 5. The weather was kind on the day and the sun shone on everyone.

‘Dowhills Strolling Minstrel’ and Rebecca Cowan caught the eye of judge, David Kirkpatrick, winning both the Novice Working Hunter Champion and overall Supreme Working Hunter Champion, with ‘Out of the West’ and Casey-Lee Millar collecting Reserve Supreme.

‘Out of the West’ and Casey-Lee Millar also impressed judge, Louise Gaunt, taking the win in the Open 133cm Show Hunter Pony, Part-Bred Ridden and Supreme Ridden Champion of the show, with ‘Highview Royal Merlin’ and Max McDonnell taking Reserve Supreme on their first outing together.

Casey-Lee Millar and ‘Out of the West’ had a successful day at the IPA NA Summer Show, picking up championships in both the working hunter and show ring. The pair eventually ended the day by taking Supreme Ridden Pony.

Once again, the Mini Sections were very competitive with Louise Gaunt, Helen Horsfal and David Kirkpatrick choosing their Mini Supreme Champion from the M&M Section with ‘Springwater Saddlers Wells’ and Olivia Knipe taking the honours and Reserve from the Show Pony Section going to ‘Royalview Candyman’ and Harriet McCann.

Once again, the Committee would like to thank everyone who gave up their time to help make the show a success, including judges, scribes, stewards, show office staff and everybody else who helped out on the day. Thank you also to Adrienne Stuart for the use of her great venue and for building a fantastic Working Hunter course.

The IPS NA Committee would like to wish all members luck at Dublin Horse Show and look forward to seeing everyone at the Autumn Show at Knockagh View Equestrian Centre on Saturday, September 13.
