First week of show jumping series sees some great competition and happy faces

Lusk Equestrian held the first week of their show jumping series on Sunday, June 22, in keeping with their ethos of providing courses for those starting out on the road to success.

The first class was at 40/50cm and it was great to witness the smiles on the children’s faces, as they competed their rounds and again at the prize giving. The second class at 60cm was a contest between two of Lusk’s stalwarts, with Ula McCaffrey and her pinto, ‘Echo’ coming out on top from Brooke Rowan and her grey show horse, ‘Danny’.

Patrick McCready rode ‘Buzz’ to win the 70cm class, ahead of Aoife Davis on ‘Flaire’ and Karen Connolly on ‘Herbie’ in second and third respectively.

The biggest class of the day was the 80cm, where Aoife Davis won on ‘Flaire’, with Abi Gardener coming second on ‘Twiggy’. Abi went on to take the 90cm class by storm, claiming both first and second places with ‘Twiggy’ and ‘Ollie’.

The 1m class was the most competitive of the day, with Ben Plunkett beating Jonny McCallion and Jonny Mulligan into second and third respectively.
