Top marks for cross-pole riders at Connell Hill

Training Show competitors give their best at Randalstown venue

Saturday, August 31 saw a large number of entries for the cross-poles class at Connell Hill’s latest Training Show, which proved very popular with all the junior riders.

The 50cm class saw competitors Amber Doyle on ‘Chino’, Jessica McAllister on ‘Lily’ and Elin Pommer on ‘Pots’ riding their second double clear of the day, while first to pick up the red rosettes in the 60cm and 70cm was Annabel Manson riding ‘Jessie’ in both classes. She was followed closely by Nick Moffett on ‘Harvey’, Anna Curran on ‘Ollie’, Caitlin Timonay on ‘Rosie’, Emma Hoy on ‘Bounty’, Clare McVeigh on ‘Darcy’ and Aldona Forbes on ‘Goldie’.

Joint first in the 80cm class were Clare McVeigh on ‘Darcy’ and Maisie Lyons on ‘Timmy’. The 90cm class saw some competitive jumping, with Willie Bell on ‘Higgy’, Tracey Manson on ‘Cherry’ and Dawn Stevens on ‘Gem’ riding all the way to the top.

Winner of the metre class was Gemma Esler, partnered with her second mount of the day ‘Rocco’. Jumping ahead to the 1.20m class saw first place going to Jamie Lee Mark on her second mount ‘Toby’ with a lovely double clear round.

Well done to Feeny riders, mother and daughter team, Victoria Semple and daughters Violet and Rose, who competed in many classes throughout the day and well done to everyone else who took part.

Connell Hill Training Show continues this Saturday, September 7 at 10am. There are classes to suit everyone and all levels from cross-poles (assisted / unassisted) up to 1.20/1.30m. All entries are taken on the day.

Connell Hill is an excellent venue and first-class facility to school round on a Saturday morning with jumping classes to suit all levels. There is always a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
