Show jumping Summer Blow out sees fantastic speed rounds
After a week’s delay due to Storm Betty, Hagans Croft got their 'Show jumping Summer Blow out' competition underway on Saturday, August 26, where they were delighted to welcome new faces to this venue and were astounded at the level of competent young riders and their fabulous horse and ponies!
The day start off with the cross-poles class, with all those competitors jumping the course of 12 fences with ease and with big smiles on their faces. Each and every one of them received a colourful rosette and a packet of sweets for all their efforts, which made their victories so much sweeter!

Some of those competitors then went on to take on the 50cm class; with a total of 16 combinations, the competition definitely started to hot up. Astonishingly, a total of 15 double clear rounds were jumped, so it was clear to see how brilliantly these young riders have been doing over the summer months.
The top six placings came down to who completed the second section of the course - fences nine to 12 - in the fastest time. Victory went to Zac Bradley and 'Suzie', who broke all speed barriers in this class, with a whole eight seconds ahead of everyone else. The pair took the win with 25.72 seconds on the clock - what a fantastic result! Second place went to Sophia Taylor and 'Scarlett' in a time of 33.81 seconds.
Some fantastic speed rounds were seen in the 60cm class, competitors took the turns that the course had to offer and, for some, the risk paid off, while for others unfortunately it did not. For those top four competitors the risk paid off - especially for Victoria McCurdy and Zac Bradley, who battled it out for the top spot. With the winner finishing with 25.28 seconds on the clock, Victoria and 'Temple Bui' took the win, followed by Zac Bradley and 'Suzie'.
With four competitors entered into the 70cm Accumulator class, Violet Campbell and 'Jet' were literally the last ones standing. The track showed just how technically difficult it was and Violet was rightly over the moon with her and 'Jet’s' result; well done!
Jas Hogg and 'Prada' had it in the bag in the 80cm Accumulator class; with a super double clear round of jumping, they were very worthy of first place.
Charley Hanna and 'Far Hill Angel' had a great winning weekend, first in the 90cm, second in the 1m class and first in the 1.10m class! This pair are truly on a winning streak and a joy to watch in action. Emma Brown and her five-year-old 'Elly Bouncer' were back at this venue and on top form, taking home first place in the 1m class. Congratulations!
Hagans Croft would like to thank everyone who supported their Show jumping Summer Blow Out event and thanks are extended to all the stewards and arena party for making the event run so smoothly. There is one more week of this particular event, with all those competing in the cross-poles class receiving a rosette and a treat and, in each class thereafter, rosettes are given for first to sixth place, with first place receiving a small prize.
Also on Saturday, September 2, Hagans Croft hosts qualifiers for the Equine Awards Rising Stars. This is a fantastic addition to this event, which should not be missed.
