Winter Show Jumping League commences at Connell Hill
Red ribbons make their way home from Randalstown with talented riders
On Saturday, November 2, Connell Hill Equestrian, Randalstown embarked on the first leg of their Indoor Winter League.
The opening rounds of week one saw Sorcha Maher and Alice Gregg on their ponies ‘Angel’ and ‘Patchy’ taking joint first place in the pony cross-poles class and, again, equal first place in the 50cm class.

Picking up the red ribbons in the 80cm class was Randalstown rider Sophie Clugston on young horse Kitty, Rebecca Sim on Princess and Rihanna Wylie on Bessie. The 90cm proved to be a strong class of riders, with all competitors having double clear rounds.
The metre class saw Leah Wylie taking her second double clear of the day on ‘Shadow’, securing first place in her class. Winner of the 1.10m was young rider Alexandra McConnell on ‘Bert’ and in joint second were Darragh Murphy on ‘Justin’ and Alana Lavery on ‘Poppy’. Jodie Creighton took first place in the 1.20m, followed closely by Alana Lavery and Darragh Murphy.
Connell Hill’s Winter League will run every Saturday throughout November and December, starting at 10am. There are classes to suit everyone from pony cross-poles (assisted/unassisted) up to 1.20m.
Qualifying dates in November are 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, and Saturday, December 7. The final will be held on Saturday, December 14 at Connell Hill’s Christmas Show.
All combinations must compete at three shows plus the final on December 14 to be eligible for Trophies, Sashes, Vouchers and Prizes.
ALL RIDERS WHO COMPETED IN WEEK 1 WILL BE ACCREDITED WITH ONE QUALIFYING WEEK TOWARDS THEIR THREE QUALIFYING SHOWS REQUIRED TO QUALIFY FOR PRIZES IN THE FINAL.
Please keep an eye out for a host more events, including details of Connell Hill’s Indoor Winter League. A warm welcome will be extended to everyone as they come along whether competing, spectating or just socialising with a hot snack and cup of tea from Debbie Dunlop’s cafe.
