Celebrating local successes and planning ahead for you and your horse
Forthcoming events of interest to all
Hello everyone,
For those who were at Dublin Horse Show since our last instalment, I hope you had a great time and gained some equine inspiration! I know after watching and admiring all those in the showing, Working Hunter and show jumping classes, I always come away with renewed enthusiasm to do more with my horse.
For those who stayed at home, it was a somewhat quieter weekend than normal in terms of competitions, but hopefully that gave an opportunity to catch your breath and to plan ahead…
In this latest Horse&Field newsletter, please find local results, as well as diary dates and details of forthcoming local equine events.
Please do make use of the Horse&Field calendar, which lists the local equestrian activities that are taking place. We are trying to make this list as comprehensive as possible, so if you know of any events that aren’t yet listed, please let us know!
To new subscribers, welcome! You will receive this newsletter twice each week, as well as occasional emails in between - we want to keep you informed, but do not want to overload your inbox!
Remember that Horse&Field will be updated on a regular basis and you can visit it at any time to find out what is happening. If you wish, you can download the Substack app; you can search online for: horseandfield.substack.com or, if you are subscribed, just click on the email.
If you have any contributions, queries or suggestions, please do send an email to horseandfield@gmail.com
Thanks for reading!

Side saddle continues to grow in popularity and local riders are becoming more accomplished as time goes on. This was highlighted when local riders made the journey to the SSA National Show in England a very worthwhile one, bringing home not only ribbons, but silverware and a sash! This coverage includes video footage of Julie Donaghy Simpson’s winnig Working Hunter round.
The spectacular St. Patrick’s Coast Ride is taking place on September 2; various distances are available, including pleasure rides and Competitive Trail Rides (CTRs). Find out more details about the ride and, more importantly, how to get involved and place your entry!
Another forthcoming event that will be of interest to many is a ‘Riding in the Zone’ webinar, being held via Zoom. Find out more about what is involved, including a video by the speaker, and how to book your place.
By popular demand, following the huge success of the Ulster Region Spring Pony Tour League, more photos have been uploaded to celebrate the achievements of the many young local athletes who secured their places on the podium in classes from 128 50cm right up to Junior 1.10m/ 1.20m level.
The Pony Club Area 17 show jumping was held at the Meadows recently and photographer Tori O’Connor was there to capture the action, which she has kindly shared with us.
