With many horsey people at Dublin Horse Show last week, there were fewer equine activities on the local calendar than usual, but there are still lots of reports and news items to share with you, including highlights of this coming weekend’s activities!

Unfortunately, the Eventing Ireland Northern Region event at Finvoy, that was scheduled for this coming weekend, has been cancelled due to the weather but, in its absence, Danescroft Equestrian Centre, Lisburn has scheduled a Combined Training competition - for more details, click below:
Danescroft to host Combined Training
Due to the Eventing Ireland event at Finvoy being cancelled, Danescroft Equestrian Centre, Lisburn have decided to run a combined training this Saturday, August 24.
This one isn’t necessarily horsey, but as many equestrian folks have a liking for country music, this is definitely worth noting! This weekend sees a number of Nashville music and food-related celebrations being held in Belfast - there’s still time to get your tickets:

This month, Belfast and Nashville are commemorating 30 years of a sister city partnership with a vibrant festival of culture, food and music. Established in 1994, the partnership between the two cities has grown into a remarkable fusion of traditions, creating a unique bridge connecting their shared heritage.

Eilis and ‘Sally Star’ take the win at Hagans Croft
Saturday, August 17 saw the second week of Hagans Croft’s show jumping events entitled 'Show jumping Summer Blow Out!'. These events are a fun way to finish off the summer, with some fun-filled classes on offer, including pairs relay and accumulator including joker fence classes.

Iveagh Pandas have just placed 12th out of 48 finalists at the JCB National Championships today (Thursday) in Offchurch!
Local RDA riders excel at Hartpury
Two RDA (Riding for the Disabled Association) Groups from Northern Ireland travelled to represent the organisation at the RDA National Championships, held annually at Hartpury College in Gloucestershire in July.

A survey of the equestrian industry about views on equine obesity, has shown that those who work with horses believe that lack of knowledge is a primary cause of overweight horses and ponies and that the problem can be addressed.

Wee Oscar Knox won the hearts of the nation during his two and a half year fight with high-risk neuroblastoma, but tragically he died in 2014 at just five years old. His parents launched the annual golf day in 2016 in his memory to help raise vital funds for research into the disease.
Action Cancer calls on adventurers to join the 7 Peaks Challenge
Participants in the 7 Peaks Challenge will conquer seven of the highest peaks in the Mourne Mountains on Saturday, September 14, 2024, while helping those affected by cancer throughout Northern Ireland.
