Hi folks,
Well, after an exhausting week or so, we’re trying to get back on schedule! I do hope you read (and enjoyed!) my account of my battle with the Red Dragon…
There was lots happening over the past weekend, so in this latest Horse&Field newsletter, please find coverage of some of the equestrian events that took place, both at home and further afield.
With much sadness, we learned that Terence McKeag BEM passed away last Friday; he will be sadly missed by all his equestrian friends.
Local competitors had plenty to choose from over the past week, with dressage at Ardnacashel and Knockagh View, Working Hunter at Hagans Croft, a Training Show at Connell Hill, the show jumping league final at Ecclesville, as well as the ILDRA report from their recent ride at Cam Forest.
Meanwhile, Northern Region member Clare Abbott was best of the Irish finishing 13th with ‘Jewelent’ in Boekelo, The Netherlands, at the final of the FEI Eventing Nations Cup series.
Looking ahead to the Down Royal Festival of Racing, which is taking place on November 3 and 4, Ladbrokes is returning as headline sponsor for the fifth year!
The Horse&Field calendar lists local equine activities and is updated on a daily basis. We are trying to make the calendar as comprehensive as possible, so if you know of any events that aren’t yet listed, please let us know!
To new subscribers, welcome! You will receive this newsletter twice each week, as well as occasional emails in between - we want to keep you informed, but do not want to overload your inbox!
Please remember that Horse&Field will be updated on a regular basis and you can visit it at any time to find out what is happening. If you wish, you can download the Substack app; you can search online for: horseandfield.substack.com or, if you are subscribed, just click on the email.
If you have any articles or photos to contribute, queries or suggestions, or if there is someone you think deserves to be featured in Horse&Field, please do send an email to horseandfield@gmail.com
Thanks for reading!
