Rain didn't dampen spirits at Strule Valley Riding Club Annual Summer Show
Due to the heavy rain, the show had to move indoors.
Hello and welcome to Horse&Field. Our aim is to support local, grass roots equestrian enthusiasts and competitors and keep you all informed of what’s happening in the horsey world as well as covering all things agricultural. If you haven’t already subscribed you can do so below
Strule Valley Riding Club Annual Summer Show jumping League commenced on Thursday, July 6 at the Ecclesville Centre, Fintona.
Due to the heavy rain, the show had to move indoors. The club would like to thank Colm McCullagh, Ecclesville Centre, for accommodating the club at such short notice to move indoors.
The league will move outdoors, weather permitting, for Thursday, July 13 and Thursday, July 20, with the final scheduled for Thursday, July 27.
Thanks to Raymond Caldwell, assisted by Pamela Caldwell, for building a lovely flowing course and to Laura Tuohey for helping put fences up. Thanks to Chris Bogle, FEI Level 1 Judge, for taking time out from his busy schedule and travelling down to judge for the evening and to Patricia Keenan and Victoria Graham for taking entries and also Anna Mae McElduff. Thanks also to Alison Donnell and Alan Gilchrist, call up.
The club would also like to thank Beam World for providing beam bars for riders on the first night. Beam bars are crispy puff seed bars that are plant-based, allergen free and high in fibre. One tree is planted for every six cases of Beam World products sold.
Beautiful perpetual cups will be awarded to league winners on the final night - The AJS Promotions Perpetual Cup, The Strule Valley Riding Club Perpetual Cup, The LW Surphlis and Son Perpetual Trophy, The Good Gracious Perpetual Cup, The Omagh Equestrian and Countrywear Perpetual Cup and The Fordie Cathers Perpetual Cup will be presented to the highest placed Strule Valley Riding Club member. The same pony/ horse/ rider combination should compete in two out of three weeks in the same class to be eligible for prizes in that class, on the final night; however everyone is very welcome!
Competitors who won perpetual cups last year are asked to please return them for the final night.
Generous prizes for the final have been very kindly sponsored by Bailey’s Horse Feeds, CS Rugwash, Ecclesville Centre, Ash Hollow Equestrian, Sea Warrior Sea Supplements, Bluegrass Horse Feeds, Comfort Gut and Omagh Equestrian and Countrywear.
Well done to all those who braved the weather to come along to compete at the first night - organisers appreciate your support!
Congratulations to local rider Abby McEnhill and 'Apollo' on taking first place in the 1 metre open class on week one.
