And we're back... with a sudden flurry of local equine activity
Dressage, show jumping, endurance, arena eventing - there's something for everyone!
Hello everyone,
Well, after a quiet few days last week, there suddenly seems to be a flurry of equine activity and there is much more to share with you in terms of local equestrian news and results!
This Horse&Field newsletter brings you local reports, results and photos from recent events that have taken place, as well as details of forthcoming activities and, of course, the calendar.

The Meadows started their year in style with Cash Back Dressage and Show Jumping, as well as a Pony Club Spring Festival Dressage Qualifier, being held. Don’t forget that the Flexi Eventing Series is due to begin at The Meadows this Saturday, January 13 - more details and the dressage tests being used were included in a recent story, so feel free to have a scroll through.
Ecclesville were delighted to get their show jumping schedule underway for 2024, with the first of their leagues kicking off last Friday evening, with a super turnout.
After Christmas, many people have to tighten their purse-strings, so it is great to see that ILDRA and Baileys have taken this into account and are offering a bag of feed or other Baileys product to one random winner at selected rides this year! Speaking of ILDRA, the ride due to be held at Shane’s Castle on Sunday past had to be postponed due to the weather, but a new date of January 21 has been announced.
Knockagh View held a dressage competition on Sunday and, while some competitors were not able to get there due to frosty conditions, there was sunshine all day at Knockagh!
Mossvale had a busy weekend of competition, with the third round of their Adult, Mini and Junior leagues being held on Saturday.
If you’re wondering where to go this weekend, there is a good selection of events in the calendar - remember that Ardnacashel has come up with some discounts for their customers, whether you are planning to compete (or school!).
More details on these and more are available by clicking on the stories below or visiting Horse&Field and having a scroll through!
The Horse&Field calendar lists local equine activities and is updated on a daily basis. We are trying to make the calendar as comprehensive as possible and currently lists shows and events right up until September, so if you know of any events that aren’t yet listed, please let us know!
To new subscribers, welcome! You will receive this newsletter twice each week, as well as occasional emails in between - we want to keep you informed, but do not want to overload your inbox!
Please remember that Horse&Field will be updated on a regular basis and you can visit it at any time to find out what is happening. If you wish, you can download the Substack app; you can search online for: horseandfield.substack.com or, if you are subscribed, just click on the email.
