Weekend update: Equestrian activity latest
Reports, results and photos from local dressage and jumping competitions
Hi folks,
With so many competitions being held over the past week or so, a second instalment is required this week, to bring you up to date with everything!
There was a great selection of activities to choose from, with Hallowe’en specials as well as regular league and training shows; a derby and both registered and unregistered show jumping shows, as well as registered and unregistered dressage - so there really was something for all levels and tastes! The fantastic photographs that accompany each of these show reports illustrate the depth of talent there is locally - just click on any of the stories below to access the full report, results and some super pictures.

New league for Dressage at Home and International
Dressage at Home and International has just released its Autumn/ Winter online competition schedule!
This Horse&Field newsletter brings you the second instalment of the latest equine news, as well as reports, results and pictures from local competitions over the past week or so, including the Hallowe’en Derby at Lusk’s; week two of the Autumn Dressage League at Gransha; the Hallowe’en Show and final of the Shloer show jumping league at Danescroft; the second leg of the Dressage Ireland Northern Region Winter League, held at Danescroft; the fourth leg of the dressage league at Ardnacashel; the Hallowe’en Show at Connell Hill; the SJI Autumn Horse League and unregistered Winter League at the Meadows and the Hallowe’en show jumping show held in aid of the Mayor of Ards and North Down’s charities.
A spooky day at Lusk’s!
Lusk Equestrian, near Lisburn, held their Hallowe’en Derby on Sunday, October 27, with a 15-fence course including two doubles, one treble - the devil’s dyke - and a quadruple, which included the bank and Derby rails, with fences adorned with pumpkins and witches, and even skeletons!
Dressage riders brave the autumn chill at Gransha *extra photos added!*
Week two of Gransha Equestrian Centre’s Autumn Dressage League got underway last weekend, with some beautiful young horses and talented young riders braving the autumn chill to showcase some lovely tests.
Spooky conclusion to Shloer league at Danescroft
A super day was had by all at Danescroft Equestrian, Lisburn, for the final of their Shloer Show jumping League. The excitement was well and truly made by the fact it was a Hallowe’en special… There was a spooky feel from the moment competitors came through the gate, with Mr Cough (the skeleton) there to greet everyone!
New combinations out to 'Try Dressage'
It was a fantastic day for the second leg of the Dressage Ireland Brass Stables Winter League, held at Danescroft Equestrian Centre, Lisburn on Saturday, October 26.
Dressage league final approaches at Ardnacashel
Sunday was the day for the fourth leg of the dressage league at Ardncashel Equestrian, Comber. With a slightly quieter day, the Dressage Arena was built up top and, thankfully, although cold, most of the competitors stayed dry.
Spook-tacular Hallowe’en Show at Connell Hill
There was sugar and spice and all things nice at the Hallowe’en Show at Connell Hill Equestrian, Randalstown, on Saturday, October 26, as the indoor arena opened the floor to a chic collection of colour and style in bright and spooky costumes. Girl power to the fore at the Meadows
The SJI Autumn Horse Series continued at The Meadows Equestrian Centre, Lurgan last Saturday, October 26, alongside the unregistered winter league.
Spook-tacular day benefits Mayoral Charities at Ardnacashel
Ardnacashel Equestrian, Comber had a Spook-tacular Day on Saturday for their Hallowe’en Show jumping Show, in aid of the Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Alistair Cathcart's Mayoral Charities; Action Cancer, St John's Ambulance and The Sea Cadets.
