The busy schedule of equine events is certainly continuing - the calendar is packed and the only dilemma is which venue to choose!
Last weekend saw a great variety of competitions, with lots of show jumping, as well as Arena Eventing, Jump Mix and even a Two- and Three-phase event! This coming weekend looks even busier… Just take a look at the Horse&Field calendar!

Charity Show at Connell Hill
A Charity Show, in aid of Air Ambulance NI, is being held at Connell Hill Equestrian Centre, Randalstown on Saturday, September 28, starting at 10am.
Meanwhile, Danescroft are set to host two amazing days of competition at their Autumn Festival this Saturday and Sunday!
Autumn Festival at Danescroft
Join the fun this Saturday and Sunday at the Autumn Showing and Working Hunter festival at Danescroft Equestrian Centre, Lisburn. Saturday kicks off with Show Horses and In-hand classes in the morning, followed by Show Ponies taking the spotlight in the afternoon.

Happy faces and happy horses at RDA Charity Ride
What a day was had on Sunday, September 15 at the RDA East Antrim Charity Ride at Shane’s Castle. The weather was kind, the sun shone on lots of very happy faces and, of course, happy horses. Organisers could not have asked for a better venue and extend their gratitude to Lord O’Neill, who so kindly permitted the use of his wonderful estate, Shane’s Cas…
Sun shines on Shloer show jumping
It was another busy day on Sunday at the second leg of the Shloer Show jumping League at Danescroft Equestrian Centre, Lisburn. The sun shone throughout the day and competitors delivered outstanding performances.
Lusk's the ideal venue for Arena Eventing
Jenny and Harold Lusk started the innovation of Arena Eventing, calling it Garden Eventing. Lusk Equestrian is an ideal venue with the large all-weather arena, combined with the adjacent fields to include the water complex, originally designed by the late great Tommy Brennan and known as ‘Brennan’s Brooke’.
Glorious weather for Ardnacashel event
A lovely day was had by all at the Two and Three-Phase Event at Ardnacashel Equestrian, Comber on Sunday. The weather was glorious, which complimented the nice, relaxed atmosphere.
Sibling successes at Connell Hill Training Show
Geared up for a great day’s jumping at Connell Hill Equestrian Centre, Cullybackey sisters, Aria and Heidi Gordon, had a two-way win-win with their pony ‘Lily’, with both riders jumping lovely double clear rounds in the cross-poles class, as did brother and sister team, Thomas and Amelia Forbes, partnered with their ponies ‘George’ and ‘Bobo’.
First place for Caroline and Angus at Hagans Croft
Saturday, September 21 saw the third week of Hagans Croft Equestrian’s Jump Mix series taking place. The course consisted of a mixture of coloured and rustic fences, where competitors jumped fences one to eight and then fences nine to 12 were timed.
Show jumping challenges at Ecclesville
Entries for week three of Ecclesville’s Show jumping League continued to be steady, with everyone enjoying the challenge of Raymond Caldwell’s twisty courses.
Moore doubles up at Connell SJI show
Last Thursday, September 19 saw another round of SJI horse jumping being held on a bright and sunny day at Connell Hill Equestrian Centre, Randalstown.
A lot of hours went into working through the show jumping results from Dublin Horse Show, to identify the huge number of local competitors who did incredibly well and request their photos, to go alongside the results… The images arrived and they were worth waiting for - just have a look:

Local show jumping fans must have been in their element at this year’s Dublin Horse Show, as there was some fantastic competition across the international and national classes!

Comber girl secures place at prestigious college in Greece
Comber girl Helena McClenaghan is the only student from Ireland, who has been accepted into the prestigious Deree College to study Music this year. Located in Athens, and originally founded in 1875 in Smyrna, The American College of Greece is the oldest American-accredited college in Europe and the largest private college in Greece.
