Horse and Field reaches second birthday
Reports, results, photos and news from the local equestrian world
Hi everyone,
Since my last newsletter, Horse and Field has (unbelievably!) reached its second anniversary… and also crossed the landmark of 1,500 articles posted! Thank you to all of you who subscribe and take the time to read the articles, especially those who have been here from the start and those who give encouragement by leaving lovely comments.
My purpose in starting Horse and Field was to shine a light on our local equestrian world and to ensure that riders, equines, coaches, equestrian centres and show organisers, as well as the never-ending list of volunteers, judges, stewards, landowners and more, get the recognition they truly deserve for all their dedication and effort! Long may this continue!

The summer schedule rolls on, with so many equine activities to choose from, whether your interest lies in show jumping, eventing, dressage, showing, Working Hunter and the recent addition of Working Equitation to the calendar. This weekend has seen Castlewellan Show, Limavady Show and National Balmoral running alongside the many regular fixtures that we know and love.
Looking ahead, the Horse&Field calendar has many more shows and events that are well worth considering when planning your horsey schedule!
This Horse&Field newsletter brings you the latest equine news, as well as reports, results and pictures from local competitions and events over the past week or so, including the two-day pony show at The Meadows; the show jumping series final at Lusk’s; SJI horse jumping at Portmore; the dressage league final at Ardnacashel; the first of the Northern Region events at Tullymurry; SJI horse jumping at Connell Hill; the NIHB show at The Meadows; the jump cross at Lisbane Farm; and the Northern Showdown at Ardnacashel. Alongside these, there were articles on reducing EHV and on testing your knowledge on equine nutrition!

It was a super day at Ardnacashel Equestrian, Comber, as the centre hosted their Northern Showdown, and it was made even better by the sunshine! A huge well done and thank you is extended to all the competitors for their great sportsmanship and for supporting this show.
